Total
Total was meant to be Matthew Bowers solo project after the break up of his obscure first band project under the name Pure. After a few recordings however, Bower eventually picked up a few other members who went on to become Skullflower. Like many of his other projects, Total came and went and came again, under numerous musical genres and sometimes as a solo effort and later on even as a duo. As is also usual for any Bower related project, it is impossible to put a label on the type of music the said project is supposedly working with. One album might be free-jazz noise, the other might be electronic drone music while another could even be experimental children's music (I kid, I kid!)
I wasn't planning on starting to collect Bower's releases as Total any time soon, but "unfortunately", I fell upon a used copy of To Fall Like Cherry Blossoms... at a very good price in a used record store in downtown Montreal. I initially passed on the deal, but once I got home I immediately regretted it and went back to get it the very next day, reserving it by e-mail during the night (how pathetic is that?) So here I am with a burgeoning Total collection, let's see how long it takes before I cave in and star getting everything. All bets are welcome!
