Sebastian
First there was Daft Punk, the duo which single-handedly put France on the groove map, proving that behind the snooty french attitude, there could be some serious hip swinging and partying, a few years later came Justice who gave the whole french techno-dance scene it's attitude back by adding grit to mix, but now we've got a new heir to the throne and he's taking it over by force using a 2X4. His name is Sebastian (Akchoté) and with only a few releases and remixes under his belt, he's pretty much turned the whole electroclash scene upside down. In fact, I consider his music to be the exact definition of IDM: sure you you can dance to this (more on that later), but more often than not, the man pushes the boundaries to the brink of experimentation (some songs could qualify as noise music!) Just take a few seconds to give him a listen and I swear you'll be blown away, just make sure you protect your head to avoid a concussion as you hit the wall at mach 3. This is as down and dirty as the dance scene can get her folks and this guy's found the formula. Actually it might prove to be a tad too fucked up for the mainstream crowd, but anyone whose brain is predisposed to party like there won't be a tomorrow will absolutely love this.
This music is an immediate party maker, it'll pretty much force you to get up and dance no matter where you are; and don't be surprised if you wind up with that scrunched up, "fuck yeah"-look on your face. When those gritty beats hit you like a ton of bricks, breaking apart all around you, you just might never be the same again. Every other dance album will now sound bland a boring to you, so if you don't want to have to throw away your whole collection after hearing this, then maybe you'll want to avoid Sebastian. Approach with caution, because once this music's embedded in your brain, there's just no turning back!
