When I started listening to Päivänsäde, I wasn't sure about how much they had released. I knew they had a double cassette out and the Puhalluspelto LP, but that's it. I fell upon this release by pure hazard while searching for the double cassette and was happy to find a seller willing to sell it to me a decent price (considering it's rarity - approximately one hundred copies). It came in a very thick rippled cardboard cover with a picture glued to the front and a weird lockable slit in the back. Nice to look at but annoying because of it's fragility. The music within gives a good idea of where these guys come from. There's a very strong free-folk sound which was obviously recorded in some member's basement, but there are also some obvious jazz influences. This is especially apparent on Tammi 3 which sounds like some obscure Sun Ra tune from his Cosmic Tones era. Interesting, but better things were to come.
