Here is another winner by Omit. Much like Fluid, Transmogrification explores the more psychedelic side of the artist's sound spectrum with tons of lo-fi drones, strange otherworldly noises and rare but creepy melodies. This time we get to witness the slow Kafkaesque transformation of man into bug. There are certainly some analogies to be made with the album's theme and the human condition, something which is central to Omit's work, but these are quite cryptic and difficult to decipher (if it is at all possible). These fourteen tracks are so incredibly moody that anyone with a bit of imagination will themselves undergo the title transformation. It's a disquieting experience, but a rewarding one nonetheless. There doesn't seem to be any field recordings on Transmogrification, this seems to be a completely electronic effort, but then again many of these sounds are absolutely unidentifiable and could very well be modified natural sounds. |
