King Darves
Not much info about this strange New Jersey-based, mystical folk artist whose music found itself among the many experimental noise artists of De Stijl Records. The artist has the same appeal as the most obscure of the sixties hippy recordings being rediscovered decades down the line. Perhaps a similar fate awaits King Darves. Much of his music is quite low-key and personal, but hearing it is like stumbling upon some modern pagan ritual in someone's basement. Using his trusty acoustic guitar and the odd toy instrument, these folk incantations have the ability to hypnotize and perhaps get a decent foot tapping thing going on once in a while. I've tried many times to listen to the artist, but still today I have difficulties in sizing what he is all about. Is it even a solo project? Influences are difficult to identify, the mood is ever changing and strangely compelling... all the qualities that describe a unique artist.
