They're bAAAaaack... The drums that is, on the appropriately titled John Plays Drums. Could "John" be the same guy playing the drums on Chair Beside A Window? Could "John" actually be Jandek? Who knows? Who cares? All I know is that it sounds pretty wild. Even though Jandek solo has his own charm, I always believed that it's when he's being accompanied that he's at his most outrageous. The rest of the album is pretty similar to his latest albums, it includes some weird-ass plucking, high-pitched whispered vocals and nonsensical lyrics. You should know what I'm talking about by now. Almost as good as Chair Beside A Window, but not quite. And I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like the quality of sound varies more than usual from song to song on this one.
