Just when you thought you had Jandek figured out, he comes out with something like this. The first five tracks are soft and "pleasant" songs on the acoustic guitar, Babe I Love You is especially sweet. Things get darker on the next two: God Came Between Us and I Love You Now It's True. No chords anymore, just open-string strumming with Jandek yelping some religious mumbo-jumbo. Not very pleasant. But just when you thought things were at their bleakest, Jandek pulls out his electric guitar and all hell breaks loose on the album's nineteen-and-a-half minute closing track. There is no describing this song. Jandek's equivalent to VU's Sister Ray with the more chaotic moments on Capt. Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica mashed in? It's very noisy with plenty of feedback. Absolutely mind boggling. One word of warning: it will leave permanent scars.
