Doktor Kettu
Hard to believe that some of the people behind Doktor Kettu (or "Dr. Fox" which is what the name translates to in finnish) are also responsible for Circle. These two sister groups are like black and white, day and night. While Circle is renowned for it's tight, progrock-ish technicality, turn-on-a-dime time shifts and clean sound, Doktor Kettu is known for it's... I mean there's something about Doktor Kettu that is just... um... well... Doktor Kettu just is. It's just there, this living, breathing creature made of sound which crushes everything in it's path. This is far from being the "foxy" music the funky band's name would lead you to believe. The aural equivalent of drinking a gallon of kerosene mixed with scratching powder. True caveman rock, but under heavy sedation. Like a bunch of semi-comatose zombies letting their guitars feedback deep in a tunnel while the drummer sometimes wakes up, stunned, hitting the skins a few times and then succumbing to the world of the undead once again. There's just no describing what a mess this all is and, of course, there is never a song that lasts under ten minutes. A new extreme in sloppy rock and a quite interesting one at that. I'll listen to a new Doktor Kettu any day instead of a new Circle record. But that's just me.
