Dead Machines

National Flag

One of the many millions of Wolf Eyes side projects, Daed Machines is the duo of John Olson (also of Graveyards) and his wife. Olson doesn't stray too far from the mother wolf with this project, as the couple regurgitate puddles after puddles of bizarro, fuck-one, fuck-all noise. How can human beings even come up with these tortured sounds? It's simply inhuman (thus the band name I guess) You either love or hate this stuff, but similarly to pretty much everything put out by Wolf Eyes and their family, I believe they are the purveyors of the absolute most fascinating noise out there. How do they do it? They simply never sound boring! No matter the amount of output, each album seems to have a certain aprticularity which prevents it from becoming redundant for some reason. Don't ask me how they do it, it baffles me too! If I were a millionaire, I would hunt down each and every release by these many bands and I'm sure I could confirm my theory... and winding up in the loony bin while attempting to do it.

Like many other artists and releases from the group's many labels and sub-labels, I hesitated for the longest time before purchasing any of their stuff. Knowing how limited most of their stuff is, and knowing how I never want to miss out on anything and knowing how limited my budget is... it was downright dangerous for me to even listen to these guys. But the opportunity came along when I found this album used in a small record shop. This has been my new philosophy when it comes to Wolf Eyes et al.'s output: only get it if it's right there in front of you. So I guess I better save up before one of the bunch comes to town.
