HELLO AND WELCOME!

Here you will find a detailed list of my music collection, including artwork, track listings and a short review of each item. This site has two purposes for me: first and foremost, it is to experiment with HTML language in order to create and design my own pages. All you see I have created using information picked up from helpful sites on the net. I know a lot of you can tell how amateurish this site might be, but I'm still learning and eventually, the site will get better and better as my collection grows larger and my authoring skills progress. Who knows, maybe one day I'll change the whole design if I get tired of it or discover new possibilities (you're already looking at version 2.0!). For now, everything is quite basic, but my goals are to make this look as professional as possible (although the code might not always be as clean and elegant as it should be). I don't like flashy things so I try to avoid them.
I also created the site in order to share my love of strange and original music with others while keeping track of everything I've got in my collection at any given time. So if I ever get robbed (God forbid!), I'll have archived and made everything public. I'll eventually try to include pictures as extra proof. For every recording I have, I will include a small humble review and a description of the artist or how I came to start listening to them. This is in order to make these pages more interesting than other "collection" sites which are often just listed items: an autobiographical music collection if you will. These reviews are far from being objective like the one's you might find in Wire magazine and nowhere near as creative as the typical Pitchfork prose. I see them as being more akin to the ones found at Aquarius Records (sorry if you guys are reading this and don't agree). The quality will vary quite a bit depending on how inspired I am at the time of writing (which often depends on how much coffee I've been drinking that day). I hope you'll find these pages fun to read and explore and that you will keep coming back as new albums and reviews come up.
I have sold a lot of CDs and vinyl ever since I started collecting. Practically all of them disappeared when came time to finance my move to Sweden (from Quebec, Canada) and a box with ninety CDs was lost a few years earlier (which included a huge Residents collection - I still have mental scars from that one) by the post office. These records are not included in these pages even though I am familiar with them. I eventually plan to get them back, but I am often too busy buying new albums and getting the old stuff back becomes less of a priority. So before you start writing to me and asking why I don't have artist "N" or "X", you should remember these things. Otherwise, any comments, corrections, details are more then welcome. If you find typos, syntaxical errors, broken links, things that don't make any sense or wrong information (it's possible, you can't always believe what you read on the net, but please link me to facts if you do so), I encourage you to contact me and let me know (by clicking on my name at the bottom or dragging it into your hotmail). I am planning to put up a forum so you can share your thoughts at one point, but that's not for now. Please note that, unless otherwise noted, I don't do trades and I am not a sharing service. None of the albums here are available to be burned. Sorry.
The site is best viewed in all major browsers but looks best on Safari and Netscape. (IE has been giving me lots of trouble with the latest design, so bare with me if it doesn't look all that good, but I'm working on it!).
Enjoy!

- Sweden's kings of retro psych rock are at it again on their latest album entitled 4.
- Antony & The Johnsons are also out with a new EP entitled Another World while we wait for the next full length.
- And I finally decided to crack open all my elaborately packaged Caroliner LPS which I had hoped to keep intact (only to find mp3 rips of each album the following day!), but what's done is done and you can read all about it.
- Sorry folks! It's been awhile. I was away on vacation and the music has just been piling up! But fear not, thanks to some performance enhancing pills, I've been working on the site like a frikkin' mental case for the last three weeks now. So here it is, without any further ado, My Massive Update: First off, tons of old and new albums by Growing (I simply emptied a local store of everything they had) including in no particular order, All The Way, Vision Swim, Color Wheel, Lateral, His Return and The Soul Of The Rainbow And The Harmony Of Light
- The latest slab of harsh noise drone by The Hototogisu is in. It's a double LP juggernaut entitled Pale Fatal Sister (sorry 'bout this one, couldn't resist!)

- What would an update be without at least one new Sunburned Hand Of The Man release? So here comes two: Schmetterling on CD-R and The Irrational Body Poem In Real Time on tape.
- The same could be said of MV&EE. The duo also have two new releases on this update: Guitar Barn and Live Road (aka Sasquatch Helper).
- It's been awhile (in Campbell Kneale years), but he's out with a new triple CD-R album as Birchville Cat Motel which goes by the title Second Curved Surface Destroyer.
- Along with the two Sunburned releases above comes the release of yet a new side project known as The Peeper which also features Sonic Youth main man Thurston Moore on guitars. The album is called Time Machine and it's a doozy!
- New material by Isolde called All Things To Fall Like marching Men, a collaboration between the always fascinating Andrew Chalk and Robin Barnes.
- Bought this at a Wolf Eyes gig last year (!!), but it's finally been reviewed: Evocation by Demons.
- If you're into truly drug-infused folk music, be sure to check out Jow-Jow The Death Knell Rung's (God I love that name!) album Seph For Ron.
- I'm just starting to collect albums by Tom Carter (of Charalambides) and I've got a fucking long way to go before completion, but I gotta start somewhere right? So let's try Monument on for size.
- I received tons of material from the obscure italian label Boring Machines, who is behind the recent split by Expo '70 and Be Invisible Now!: Naturally, there is the full length album by Be Invisible Now! entitled Neutrino.
- I also got a strange (to say the least) album by Italy's own little Jandek: Stefano S, better known as My Dear Killer with the album Clinical Shyness.
- Also from Boring Machines is a fascinating tribute album to Michaelangelo Antonioni's film Il Deserto Rosso by italian sound collage artist Punck entitled Piallassa (Red Desert Chronicles).

- I finally got around to reviewing albums from the Kompakt label which I have found used or that I received by mistake. These include the Michael Mayer and Superpitcher collaboration (imaginatively called Supermayer) which goes by the title Save The World...
- ... and a solo Superpitcher remix album called Today.
- To stay in this electro vein, I also got around to reviewing a 2005 album by Jackson And His Computer band called Smash.
- And Sweden's own king of glitch Michael Stavöstrand also gets a review for his album Reduce which I've now bought for a second time!
- I've always loved this record, but never got around to buy it since I moved back from Sweden: Arvo Pärt's gentle Alina.
- Karlheinz Stockhausen is another artist I regret not having explored earlier, but here's a humble start with two albums from the composer's very own label: Hymnen: Elektronische Musik Mit Orchester and Musik Für Posaune Und Euphonium. More on the way!
- For my own shaky classical culture, I've decided to include to CDs of works by the legendary Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Sinfonia Concertante Für Violine Und Viola/Sinfonia Concertante Für Bläser (Karl Böhm) and Symphonies Nos. 35 'Haffner' & 41 'Jupiter' (Alvaro Cassuto).

- Weirdness abounds on the album Infidel by the always confusing Temple Of Bon Matin. Just thinking about it baffles me!
- Sebadoh are yet another band I so desperately wanted to re-explore after years of absence but couldn't due to financial reasons. Finding albums like The Freed man used for less than ten bucks always helps.

- Managed to write a bit more today so here goes: three new releases by Expo '70, including one solo release (Black Ohms), one two-way split (Expo '70/Be Invisible Now!) and one three way split under his real name Justin Wright along with Matt Hill and Duane Pitre entitled Live At The Pistol Social Club +.

- Two new arrivals by Gas as well: the LP version of Königsforst and the long-awaited book of artwork by Wolfgang Voigt which includes unreleased material for his famous ambient project.

- lately, no album has managed to confuse me as much as Afrirampo's Kore Ga Mayaku Da. Ouch!
- I've had these two releases by finnish psych-folk veteran Keijo for quite some time now, but just got around to reviewing them. be sure to check out Whose Dream We Live In? and With All Belongings Into The Air.

I bought both the 4CD and 2LP versions.

- Had to order Boris' American edition of Smile twice because my first copy arrived all broken up in the mail. I complained to Southern Lord, never got an answer so I reordered it and they sent me the CD in this huge fucking box with tons of bubble wrap and whatnot. Thought it was pretty funny, especially if they did it out of spite!

- I also had time to review yet a new Keijo release, the somewhat lackluster About Around.
- Bunch of new stuff in over the holidays. I finally had time to listen to two new collaborative tapes by Sunburned Hand Of The Man. One self-titled with the boys from Emeralds and another with obscure free-jazz saxophonist Paul Flaherty entitled Unmuzzled ox.

- I've finally decided to get Boris' limited deluxe LP edition of their incredible collaboration with Ghost guitarist Michio Kurihara: Rainbow. Top-notch psych here!
- MUCHO RARE FIND ALERT: After years of searching, I managed to get my hands on an original, obscenely rare copy of finnish legendary noise composer Pekka Airasinen's One Point Music on LP. If you're familiar with his other group Sperm, you simply have to check this one out.
- I reluctantly put up Ariel Pink's unofficial CD-R release for both Scared Famous and FF>>, you'll see it's confusingly different from the later "official" edition.
- I'm steadily getting more party music in by the always fun 2 Many DJ's mash-up/mix sessions. This time I received As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pts. 4 & 5.
- And finally, I've reviewed Six Organs Of Admittance's incredibly trippy The Manifestation, a collaboration with Current 93's David Tibet.
- Happy New Year everyone! After taking a break from the site for the holidays, I'll try and bring updates to the site more frequently from now on. A few things came in of course over the course of the past few weeks. First off, I'd like you all to check out LSD March's latest (and wildest) release: Nikutai No Tubomi.

Lots of new stuff this past month so let's start by a few switches I've made. First off: I finally got rid of my first edition Yahowha 13 box set God And Hair for the second, more convenient, edition in a sealed wooden box. Same music, better packaging!
