HELLO AND WELCOME!

Here you will find a detailed list of my music collection, including artwork, track listings and a short review of each item. This site has two purposes for me: first and foremost, it is to experiment with HTML language in order to create and design my own pages. All you see I have created using information picked up from helpful sites on the net. I know a lot of you can tell how amateurish this site might be, but I'm still learning and eventually, the site will get better and better as my collection grows larger and my authoring skills progress. Who knows, maybe one day I'll change the whole design if I get tired of it or discover new possibilities (you're already looking at version 2.0!). For now, everything is quite basic, but my goals are to make this look as professional as possible (although the code might not always be as clean and elegant as it should be). I don't like flashy things so I try to avoid them.
I also created the site in order to share my love of strange and original music with others while keeping track of everything I've got in my collection at any given time. So if I ever get robbed (God forbid!), I'll have archived and made everything public. I'll eventually try to include pictures as extra proof. For every recording I have, I will include a small humble review and a description of the artist or how I came to start listening to them. This is in order to make these pages more interesting than other "collection" sites which are often just listed items: an autobiographical music collection if you will. These reviews are far from being objective like the one's you might find in Wire magazine and nowhere near as creative as the typical Pitchfork prose. I see them as being more akin to the ones found at Aquarius Records (sorry if you guys are reading this and don't agree). The quality will vary quite a bit depending on how inspired I am at the time of writing (which often depends on how much coffee I've been drinking that day). I hope you'll find these pages fun to read and explore and that you will keep coming back as new albums and reviews come up.
I have sold a lot of CDs and vinyl ever since I started collecting. Practically all of them disappeared when came time to finance my move to Sweden (from Quebec, Canada) and a box with ninety CDs was lost a few years earlier (which included a huge Residents collection - I still have mental scars from that one) by the post office. These records are not included in these pages even though I am familiar with them. I eventually plan to get them back, but I am often too busy buying new albums and getting the old stuff back becomes less of a priority. So before you start writing to me and asking why I don't have artist "N" or "X", you should remember these things. Otherwise, any comments, corrections, details are more then welcome. If you find typos, syntaxical errors, broken links, things that don't make any sense or wrong information (it's possible, you can't always believe what you read on the net, but please link me to facts if you do so), I encourage you to contact me and let me know (by clicking on my name at the bottom or dragging it into your hotmail). I am planning to put up a forum so you can share your thoughts at one point, but that's not for now. Please note that, unless otherwise noted, I don't do trades and I am not a sharing service. None of the albums here are available to be burned. Sorry.
The site is best viewed in all major browsers but looks best on Safari and Netscape. (IE has been giving me lots of trouble with the latest design, so bare with me if it doesn't look all that good, but I'm working on it!).
Enjoy!

-Tell them I sent you!!! Kratom, kratom, KRATOM!!!
LATEST ENTRIES:
(February 7th, 2010)- Here's a quick update to thin out the pile that is constantly growing on my desk. Lots of old stuff this time form only three different artists: First off The Residents. I've been going a bit Rez-mad of late, buying almost anything that could fill in the gaps in my long lost collection. There are many oldies, like Have A Bad Day, The King & Eye, Mole Show, Gingerbread Man, Our Finest Flowers and Icky Flix, but also a few rarities like Refused and The 12 Days Of Brumalia.
- After this we've got a bunch of Merzbow. The danger when promising oneself to get ALL the used Merzbow albums I can find when used-CD shopping is the very real possibility that there will be a bunch of them. Someone must have sold a bunch of them a few days before I came in because I came out with a thick handful and even left a few splits behind not to damage my budget too much. Here's what I found: Puroland, Oersted, 1930, Rainbow Electronics 2, Hybrid Noisebloom, Collapse 12 Hours, Vibractance, Tauromachine and Merzbuddha. Ouch!
- Last but not least is a huge batch of Omit's albums on cassette and CD: Transfusions, Rundowns, Transmogrification, Fluid, Alienation, Overcast, Tracer and Interceptor. The rare tapes I found on eBay, but the newer CDs were simply bought from the label. I also managed to find the cassette version of Quad and got rid of the 3CD version.
- First entry of the new decade! First off my top ten of 2009:
- Six Organs Of Admittance/Azul: Six Organs Of Admittance/Azul
- The Necks: Silverwater
- Natural Snow Buildings: Shadow Kingdom
- No Neck Blues Band: At 6AM We Become The Police
- Ducktails: Landscape
- Thomas Köner: La Barca
- William Basinski: 92982
- Expo '70: Sonic Messenger
- Sunburned Hand Of The Man: Pistachio Overquote
- Kuupuu: Lumen Tähden
- Tons of new and old stuff as usual. In no particular order: I found some old Kompakt releases pretty cheap in a used record store. There were actually tons of them, but most were unfortunately promos so I went home with only two, namely Ulf Lohmann's Because Before...
- ...and Dettinger's Oasis.
- I got two older titles by Circle while used record hunting: Arkades and Earthworm.
- I also found a few VHF CDs as well during that same run including Pelt's For Michael Hannahs and Rob's Choice...
- ... along with Total's Eternity's Beautiful Frontispiece (which wound up being a promo, so I sold it immediately back and bought a new copy... which cost me twice as much... Bra-vo!)
- On that same shopping spree I was happy to find AMM's incredible album Fine.
- More finnish oldies but goldies (still during that same run) with Pharaoh Overlord's 4.
- Finally found a copy of Primal Scream's classic XTRMNTR for only five bucks (kick ass!)
- For Christmas, I ordered two more of John Fahey's early albums, this time I got The Great San Bernardino Birthday Party and The New Possibility: John Fahey's Guitar Soli Christmas Album/Christmas With John Fahey Vol. II.
- I've also received the two latest Jandek releases: Portland Thursday and What Was Out There Disappeared. Thanks to Volcanic Tongue, every subsequent Jandek albums will from now on automatically be sent to my mailbox.
- During another used record store shopping spree, I found Marumari's Ballad Of The Round Ball...
- ...Mike Patton's Adult Themes For Voice (unfortunately without the Tzadik obi strip - anyone out there feel generous and want to sell their's to me?)...
- ...two Melvins records: Gluey Porch Treatments and the new Chicken Switch...
- ...and a nice clean copy of Fantômas' Delìrium Còrda.
- New stuff includes three new releases by Sunburned Hand Of The Man: The Healer's Barrel, Pistachio Overquote and the Fourtet produced A - all really great stuff!
- Also three new ones by Expo '70, including Mother Universe Has Birthed Her Last Cosmos, the deluxe 2CD edition of Sonic Messenger and Galaxy Of Mysticism.
- There is also a new album by Six Organs Of Admittance, Empty The Sun which also serves as the "soundtrack" for a book of the same name by Joseph Mattson. Unfortunately, I had to rip the fucking thing open to get to the CD, leaving the back cover slightly damaged. Being the anal collector that I am, I will probably wind up buying it new again and leaving the fucker sealed!
- I'm still struggling to complete my MV & EE collection. For now I received four new Heroine tour CD-Rs (Mutron Lovers, Free Folk Paintball, Forever Upward and Greenspace), one new studio album (Barn Nova) and an older Untitled pic LP which is a collaborative effort. I believe I'm missing less than five releases to complete my collection (goddamnit!)
- There's a new album by one of my favorite ambient artists out there today: William Basinski's Vivian & Ondine.
- Also out with a new album after a few years' hiatus is Thomas Köner with his incredible La Barca.
- The Necks have also stunned me with their new album Silverwater (this one is amazing folks!)
- Back to older stuff: I got a copy of Wings Over America by Sunroof! and Vibracathedral Orchestra for less than ten bucks on eBay.
- Not too impressed by Black Dice's Creature Comforts (although I love the artwork for this one).
- I started to build up my old Chain Reaction label collection once again (I used to have them ALL!) with Fluxion's Vibrant Forms.
- Added another title to my Merzbow collection as well with Cycle.
- Keeping with the noise, I bought a new copy of Burning Star Core's The Very Heart Of The World for cheap to encourage me to get more of his stuff.
- I've also switched my old copy of Miles Davis's Bitches Brew on 2CD for The Complete Bitches Brew Sessions on 4CD (that thing is a beauty!)
- This list never ends! After months of waiting, I finally put my paws on a new and incredibly rare bootleg LP with two of La Monte Young's compositions on Excerpt For Drift Study [...] (I also have a copy of this one for sale if anyone out there is interested).
- I've received the third and last installment in Boris' Japanese Heavy Rock Hits. It's not great, but it's the best of the three.
- Aaaaaand finally! Last but not least. I simply couldn't resist, I purchased Kraftwerk's massive The Catalogue 8CD box set. Ok that's enough!
- I'm back! Depression can be a bitch, but bare with me (yeah I know it's been two months). Anyway here's what's been coming in since then. First off, I've almost completed my Ducktails collection with the addition of the wonderful Acres Of Shade cassette.
- I'm still working on building up my Wolf Eyes collection. I've managed to find the first volume of the Asylum Style series, their legendary live gig with Anthony Braxton entitled Black Vomit and two tour-only tapes that go by the name I'm A Problem 1 & 2.
- Mistaking it for a true Wolf Eyes release, I bought a used copy of their Solo compilation where each band member gets his own side of wax topped off with a group effort on side four.
- I've started collecting ex band mate Aaron Dilloway's releases with his bizarre exercise in hiss: Medusa.
- Also new to my collection is the work of one noise pioneer named Lee Rockey. You owe it to yourselves to check out Music.
- It took forever, but he's finally found his way into my collection and hopefully it's not the last you'll hear of him... Burning Star Core! My first release from him is Brighter Summer Day (you gotta love that artwork!)
- If you're into doomsday cults you just might enjoy the music of King Darves with his The Sun Splits For... The Blind Swimmer,
- The No-Neck Blues Band have come out with a new LP (of really old material - again!) called Languid Red Marchetti.
- Thanks to a visitor to this site, I was lead to listen to some of New Zealand's own misanthropist noise maker Omit's work. As of this writing, everything on that page is new to my collection.
- I'm still regularly ordering albums by the always expensive Mirror, this time I received Visiting Star and the limited edition of Islands.
- When The Jesus Lizard re-released their Touch & Go albums and remastered them, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to discover a band I had completely missed out on the first time around. I've got their first four for now.

- Lastly, I sold my LP copy of TwinSisterMoon's The Hollow Mountain and replaced it with the new CD version which includes a whole new album's worth of material! I'm not buying as much music as I used to these days, so these updates might not be as frequent as usual, but they will keep on coming. Keep yours open.
- Bunch of stuff in in very little time. The biggest addition to my collection is this early b-day present from my girlfriend, the incredible Beatles In Mono boxset by The Beatles (of course) which was recently released and which sold out within days! Since the set did not include, Yellow Submarine, Abbey Road and Let It Be, I bought the recent remastered reissues separately.
- Tons of old and new Wolf Eyes releases yet again: Deranged, Uglied, River Slaughter and the Covered In Bugs DVD-R.
- Three older releases by Richard Youngs: Making Paper, May and The Naive Shaman.
- I received a bunch of stuff from Justin Wright's Sonic Meditations label including a new limited album on tape by Expo '70 entitled Corridors To Infinity...

- I found a used copy of Boredoms's Seadrum/House Of Sun which I had trouble finding at a reasonable price.
- I'm so happy to have finally bought this one-of-a-kind second album by an obscure swedish duo called Philemon Arthur And The Dung. The album is entitled Får Jag Spy I Din Paraply (or in plain english: "May I Puke In Your Umbrella|" - you couldn't even imagine what you're getting yourselves into with this one!).
- Thank God this one was cheap, but I'm still glad I found it: Pan•American's first eponymous album from 1997.

- Keeping on top of things with this update. Things will probably slow down in 2009 as Xmas 2008 has been quite expensive. I've decided to attack my Skullflower collection, and as you'll see, I managed to find quite a bit of great stuff! And to think there's still some more on the way!
- I couldn't resist very long, so I bought the last Faith No More record I wanted in my collection (I won't be getting the earlier stuff): King For A Day Fool For A Lifetime.

- And last but not least, the Sunburned bunch have decided to pursue their release of early (and incredibly strange) loft sessions material on The Dry Triangle and HAZ.
- Still trying to fill in the gaps in my collection. I only plan on getting the Patton-era albums so I'm only missing King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime as of this writing.
- Same goes for The Third Eye Foundation, of course, this artist came later in my life, but I still get that nostalgic vibe when hearing these albums. It's proving more difficult than expected to find the missing albums, but for now I've got In Version, Ghost and Little Lost Soul.
- I also found a used copy of the reissue of Boredoms' Pop Tatari.
- During the same shopping spree, I found two used albums by the fascinating Philip Jeck, including his latest Sand. (the other is Surf).
- I've received yet another album by Karlheinz Stockhausen on his own label and this one is the best one yet: Unsichtbare Chöre.

- Lastly, it's a crime I've never listened to this band more closely before, but I believe it's better to be late than sorry, so I purchased a copy of The Jesus Lizard's incredible album Liar. Stay tuned, much more interesting stuff on the way - it's Christmas soon and we all know what that means!!!
- Alright! Staying ahead! Staying ahead! Not many new releases this time 'round but plenty of cool stuff anyway! - And I finally decided to crack open all my elaborately packaged Caroliner LPS which I had hoped to keep intact (only to find mp3 rips of each album the following day!), but what's done is done and you can read all about it.
- Sorry folks! It's been awhile. I was away on vacation and the music has just been piling up! But fear not, thanks to some performance enhancing pills, I've been working on the site like a frikkin' mental case for the last three weeks now. So here it is, without any further ado, My Massive Update: First off, tons of old and new albums by Growing (I simply emptied a local store of everything they had) including in no particular order, All The Way, Vision Swim, Color Wheel, Lateral, His Return and The Soul Of The Rainbow And The Harmony Of Light

- Bought this at a Wolf Eyes gig last year (!!), but it's finally been reviewed: Evocation by Demons.

- I'm just starting to collect albums by Tom Carter (of Charalambides) and I've got a fucking long way to go before completion, but I gotta start somewhere right? So let's try Monument on for size.

- I've always loved this record, but never got around to buy it since I moved back from Sweden: Arvo Pärt's gentle Alina.
- Karlheinz Stockhausen is another artist I regret not having explored earlier, but here's a humble start with two albums from the composer's very own label: Hymnen: Elektronische Musik Mit Orchester and Musik Für Posaune Und Euphonium. More on the way!
- For my own shaky classical culture, I've decided to include to CDs of works by the legendary Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Sinfonia Concertante Für Violine Und Viola/Sinfonia Concertante Für Bläser (Karl Böhm) and Symphonies Nos. 35 'Haffner' & 41 'Jupiter' (Alvaro Cassuto).

- Weirdness abounds on the album Infidel by the always confusing Temple Of Bon Matin. Just thinking about it baffles me!

- Managed to write a bit more today so here goes: three new releases by Expo '70, including one solo release (Black Ohms), one two-way split (Expo '70/Be Invisible Now!) and one three way split under his real name Justin Wright along with Matt Hill and Duane Pitre entitled Live At The Pistol Social Club +.
